About Somerset
Shrimp Shack
We breed shrimp. We keep shrimp. We know shrimp.
How it started
Somerset Shrimp Shack started in 2024 when Emerzon's shrimp hobby got seriously out of hand. A few tanks became many, and it made sense to start sharing the best of what we were breeding with other hobbyists across the UK.
Everything we sell is bred here in Somerset — not bought in from wholesalers and resold. That means we know exactly what conditions the animals have been kept in, what they've been fed, and what parameters they've come from.
We ship across the UK and are always happy to help, whether you're setting up your first shrimp tank or hunting down a specific grade or bloodline. Just drop us a message.

What we care about
Three things that shape how we run the business.
Quality
Every animal we sell has been raised in our own tanks. If it's not up to scratch, it doesn't get listed.
Education
Shrimp keeping has a steep learning curve. Our care guides are based on what's actually worked for us — not pulled from a generic wiki.
Sustainability
All our shrimp are captive bred. We're not interested in wild-caught animals and think the hobby should move away from them entirely.

Purpose-built for shrimp
All our shrimp are kept in our home setup here in Somerset. Every tank gets checked daily — water parameters, behaviour, feeding — because that's just what you do when you care about the animals.
We breed for health first, then colour. A shrimp that looks great but arrives stressed isn't worth selling, so we take conditioning and packaging seriously.
The person behind the shrimp

Emerzon Fitzgerald
Founder
Emerzon has been keeping shrimp for years — it started as a hobby and turned into something he couldn't stop thinking about. Somerset Shrimp Shack is the natural result: a way to share the best of what he breeds with other people who are equally obsessed.
What drives everything we do
Captive bred only
All our shrimp are bred in captivity. We don't stock wild-caught animals and think the hobby is better off without them.
Passion
We keep shrimp because we love it — not just as a business. That tends to rub off on customers, which is fine by us.
Quality
We only sell animals we'd happily keep ourselves. If the colour isn't right or the shrimp look off, they don't get listed.
Community
There's a brilliant community of shrimp keepers in the UK and we're happy to be part of it. Got a question? Just ask.
Get In Touch
Got a question about a specific species, your water parameters, or an order? Just get in touch. We're run by shrimp keepers, so no question is too basic or too nerdy.
